Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Alternative Pavement Rehabilitation Solutions: A Case Study

In the context of sustainability, pavement construction industry is taking a more holistic approach to environmental, economic, and social issues. particular, pavements are believed be responsible for up 24% total greenhouse gas emissions over last century. Therefore, it critical include tool assess environmental health impacts or rehabilitation in related design studies. This called Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). With this mind, case study examines two alternative solutions an existing highway pavement: one using conventional materials processes recycled recycling processes. These alternatives ecologically evaluated LCA method increase importance quantifying impacts. By comparing corresponding results, aims quantitatively demonstrate how contribute sustainability pavements. As final result, shown that human benefits significant, even though use may limited.
